Meagan is walking!

This week Meagan has started to venture into the world of walking without holding onto anything!  She thinks it is so fun.  Usually I will set her in front of me and she will run rather than walk and then just giggle when she makes it all on her own into my arms.  It is sooo cute and melts my heart everytime!  Everyone tells you how fast time goes by but you don't realize the truth about that statement until you have a kids of your own. I can't believe she is almost 1!  I am so excited to see where God is going to take her. Here is a little video of Meagan taking her first few steps. Enjoy!

Hilo Zoo

Today we went to the Zoo. It is one of the few tropical zoo's in the world and it's right here in Hilo. Did I mention that it is also free? Although it was quite hot we still enjoyed seeing all the different types of tropical animals. It is also a lot different than other zoos that I have been to. You could pretty much walk right up to the animals in their cages. Of course there are signs posted everywhere that the animal bites so you don't stick your fingers in. It was so cool though, I have never been that close. Usually you have to look through the camera lens to see them closer. They also have a petting zoo that we missed, next time. Meagan enjoyed the monkeys and kept pointing at them. My favorite was the white tiger names Namaste. He was born in Vegas and is one the few left in the world. He was so pretty!  Hope you enjoy the pictures. Aloha!

Hello from Hilo, HI

I wanted to let everyone know that we are settling pretty well to Hilo.  It was so nice to get to see everyone at the going away party. Thanks to all you who were able to make it out =) So far we have just been figuring out the city and scoping out all the tourist spots.  By God's grace we were able to find a house after a week of being here!  We are soooo thankful, the hotel we were staying in was not the greatest.  The house is 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom and it is right off of a golf course. It is in a very nice neighborhood and on a half acre, which is huge for Hilo.  The only thing that is a little cumbersome are the bugs and frogs!  The frogs like to come out at night and make a very lovely high pitched noise. Oh well, I am sure we will get used to it. Meagan has adjusted great and sleeps through all the noises! Turns out that she loves papayas too! We visited our first church yesterday. They were very welcoming and inviting. They have a very big passion for the people of Hilo and love God. It made me miss my Reno church family though. I think we will probably go back again. I have attached a few pictures of our adventures so far. Hope that everyone is doing well. We miss all of you guys so much!
The black on the ground is dried up lava.

This where the lava flows out into the ocean. The waves got so high that they hit our windshield while we were driving!

These pictures were taken at Akaka Falls. Just a short little hike outside Hilo.
